Cosmetology: Not Just for Women Anymore

The beauty industry has for a very long time been a preserve for women alone. Today, this industry is for both genders. In this century, more and more men are jumping into this career and industry. The American Association of Cosmetology Schools says that this personal care industry has been anticipated to grow by about 20% within the next eight years. This is an implication that even more men will now be tending to your beauty needs than they are doing today.

About 16% of the beauty industry is made up of white males. More and more opportunities are also coming up day by day to be occupied by more people. These opportunities have led to the boost in male interests as far as cosmetology is concerned. Almost all the beauty schools in the world are registering more and more male students. The percentage of male students is increasing in these schools as a result of their increased demand in the market. The job seekers in America are finding a safe landing in the cosmetology industry as the returns are pretty attractive.

There is a common interest within humanity. Men tend to like being served by women and the vice versa. This can be one of the factors that have been attributed to this increase in the number of male cosmetologists. There are women who prefer to be attended to in salons dominated by men. Others also insist that their pedicure and manicure needs be attended to by the male attendants. If this trend continues, there will come a time when the ration of male to female cosmetologists will get to 50:50.
Passion, interest and hobbies are guiding people to chose their careers more than ever before. As a result, enrolment in beauty schools has become a choice that’s based on these factors, logic together with shrewd planning. In other words, a man does not need to be a hairspray or a mascara connoisseur for him to be successful in the cosmetology industry.

Caring for the beauty and appearance is also being embraced by both sexes. This is unlike several decades back when only females were interested in good looks.  There were no male grooming products in the market. However, today these grooming products for men are anticipated to boats $33 billion in terms of revenue within just a couple of years to go. It’s dawning on more and more men that there is something they are lacking by not visiting these beauty shops. There are therefore some male cosmetology students who study not for career reasons but to get the skills to enable them use the skills in grooming themselves.

Don’t therefore be surprised in the next ten years when you get into any beauty rooms in town only to get that more than 50% of the attendants are men.
